John Hope Franklin Tower of Reconciliation, Tulsa, OK
This is a memorial tribute to the destruction of the black town of Greenwood, OK in the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot, where hundreds of Blacks were killed and the entire town burned to the ground. It features an entryway winged tower system with three figurative sculptures, backed by a large waterfall system. After entering the site the viewer proceeds towards the central element . . . a 27’ high 'Tower of Reconciliation' that depicts the entire story of slavery with the 'Five Civilized Indian Tribes' - the Cherokees, Chickasaw, Chocktaw, Creek and Seminoles; the Black Emergence in the territories, the Destruction of the Riot; the Rebuilding and Reconciliation.

The monument was unveiled in 2010.
